The British Informatics Olympiad is the computing competition for schools and colleges. We are proud to present BIO 2009, sponsored by Lionhead Studios.
The 2009 British Informatics Olympiad Final

The 2009 British Informatics Olympiad final took place at Trinity College, Cambridge, from 27-29 March.

The competition consisted of three stages.

On the evening of Friday 27th, students were helped to get working with their compilers with a practice programming question (not graded).

On the morning of Saturday 28th, two written questions were set:

• Off the Beaten Track (pdf) (1 hour 15 minutes) - structured question-and-answer task.
• Sentiment (pdf) (45 minutes) - free essay question.

In the afternoon, students sat the following programming exercises:

• Fair Exchange (pdf)
• Desperate Measures (pdf)
• All Work and No Play (pdf)
• A Friend in Deed (pdf)

Languages available were C/C++ and Delphi. Students were advised, at the start of the programming session, that they did not need to attempt all of the questions.
