The 2004 British Informatics Olympiad Final

The 2004 British Informatics Olympiad final took place at Trinity College, Cambridge, from 26-28 March.

The competition consisted of three stages.

On the evening of Friday 26th, students were helped to get working with their compilers with a practice programming question (not graded):

On the morning of Saturday 27th, two written questions were set:

After a break for lunch we moved to a computer room. Languages available were C++, Pascal and Visual Basic. The following questions were given to the finalists at the start, in no particular order:

Students were advised, at the start of the programming session, that they were not to attempt all of the questions.
