The British Informatics Olympiad is the computing competition for schools and colleges. We are proud to present BIO 2012, sponsored by Lionhead Studios.
The 2012 British Informatics Olympiad Final

The 2012 British Informatics Olympiad final took place at Trinity College, Cambridge, from 13-15 April.

The competition consisted of three stages.

On the evening of Friday 13th, students were helped to get working with their compilers with a practice programming question (not graded).

On the morning of Saturday 14th, two written questions were set:

• Small World (pdf) (1 hour) - structured question-and-answer task.
• Translation (pdf) (45 minutes) - free essay question.

In the afternoon, students sat the following programming exercises:

• Pebbles (pdf)
• Slipstream (pdf)
• Clearance (pdf)
• Sesquicentennial (not yet online)

Languages available were C/C++ and FreePascal. Students were advised, at the start of the programming session, that they did not need to attempt all of the questions.
